Indiana...you are so sexy!

I have one second grade class with a student who calles himself Michael Jordan. Whenever I have this class, I find myself laughing uncontrolably. Here are some quotes from him and other students in in my classes:
In response to 'Where is Indiana': "Oh...Indiana, you are so sexy!"
In response to the question 'What is the biggest state?': "China! Yeahhhh!"
In response to 'Do you know the answer?': "Yes I know....what?"
In respose to 'Who is the president?': "Washington!" as well as "MEEEEEE!"
In reponse to what is the biggest city in the U.S.A: "Texas!"
Well this week went by fast. Thurday night at Yoo's Deck was successful as always. We had a bug group and everyone ended up getting pretty tanked. My friend Emily ended up taking off her pants and sitting in her underware for like 20 minutes. The next day I went to an Island off the West coast for a day of sightseeing with my coteacher and other native English speakers and their coteachers. It was awesome, beutiful views and I got to see a Buddist Temple. I made a wish for my family and friends by putting a smaller rock on top of the pile and not having it fall over. I climbed 181 stairs to the top of the temple which is supposed to forgive 181 of my sins (so basically Thursday night). I saw a Buddist ceremony and said hello to some monks. It encouraged me to schedule my temple stay soon.
Tonight I am going to a Halloween par-t in Sincheon. Should be pretty fun. It's getting really cold here!

Great translation. Get your mind out of the gutter! They're talking about clothes.  Posted by Picasa

Sion and I. She speaks fluent English and Italian. This girl can dance hip hop like there's no tomorrow! Her father was the one in the opera I went to see. Posted by Picasa

Some of my favorite students. The one on the right has the English name "Curi" which she invented. It's short for curious. How cute! Posted by Picasa

Haircuts and Swear words: Bridging the cultural gap

Well it's my second month here and life has officially become routine. I have my group of teacher friends that I hang out with (the ones you see in the pics). I also have some Korean friends that I hang with as well. The best times are when there is a mix of Koreans and Westerners because we learn valuable things like swear words from each other.
This week was eventful. At the school we had a school festival and a sports day on Friday. I was really impressed by the level of talent in the school. There were boy bands, violinists, Brittany Spears style dancers, and me! That's right! I performed ballet and a "sexy dance" (not by choice) in fron of the entire school. It was pretty hilarious. I have been informed that someone taped it so I am supposed to get a copy.
Friday was sports day, and let me tell you, Koreans are great at soccer. Soccer is the major sport here (you may recall the World Cup being here) so many of the boys play it. The only this that sucked about the day was that it was raining all day and one kids broke his arm in the game. It happened right in front of me and I heard the "snap." Now I can't get that noise out of my head.
After sports day all the teachers went to this amazing Korean restaurant where we had duck and pork ribs. It was sooooo good! Man, when I go home I really going to miss the food here. I also drank some twelve year old ginsing liquor that one of the teachers made. It burned on the way down! Korea is supposed to have the best Ginsing in the world so I will make sure to bring some home. My principal told me at dinner that when he asked for an English teacher he requested the most beautiful one, and the assigned me to Sadang. I thought that was sweet :)
Last night I got my haircut in Itaewon by a gay Korean and went clubbing with Korean friend Jam and his brother. We were out until 5:30am dancing, playing pool and eating pizza. It was a great night.
